St. Paul - St. Paul Peterson

I had just left the "Royal Camp" of The Artist . Gerald Busby was the executive at MCA that signed me, and he gave me total artistic control. I promptly hired my older brother and mentor, Ricky Peterson, to produce my record. I wrote with former members of The TIME like Monte Moire ("Can't Get Enough," & "Tell Me What's On Your Mind") and Oliver Leiber, who co-penned the top 40 single "Rich Man," with me. (Oliver produced Paula Abdul's first hit record, "Forever Your Girl," the record I did a lot of work on as well.) I also got to work with Jeff Lorber, one of my best friends at the time, and one of the most talented, I might add. He co-wrote and produced a song that we wrote with Bunny Hull ("New Attitude," Patti LaBelle) that got the show on the road. I felt fortunateto involve every member of my family in that record. My sister, Patty helped me pen the second single, "Intimacy." Another important part of that record for me was the continuity of sound, due to the mixing of Steve Peck. He is the most talented mixer, next to my great friend, Tom Tucker. Tom Mixed the single, "Rich Man." My managers at the time took me over to Atlantic Records for the next project, "Down To The Wire."
